LA6YEA, Øystein Eikedalen. Øystein – or “Paul” – as he prefer to call him on air was born i 1966. He is the host and chairman of LA3Z – LN3Z contest club. Been licensed since 1983 (LB1IC novice call until 1985) doing mainly high speed CW the first years. More into DXing and contesting in the recent years, and different DXpeditions. Paul is heard on the airwaves behind the following callsigns: JW6YEA – OJØLA – OJØ/LA6YEA – OHØ/LA6YEA – LA6Q – LA8W. |
LA9GX, Tom Sigurdssøn. Some years ago Tom used to be among the most active DXers in LA. Been some years off the airwaves. Now – he is back – and is doing excellent in the pileups. Tom is always eager to do best. A competative guy – which always gives 100%. Love contesting, and does CW/SSB modes. |
LA5UKA, Bjørn Brække. Bjørn is our technician, and takes special interest in making “things work”. And they sure do if Bjørn makes a repair or modification on either a radio or linear amp. Prefer working SSB or digimode. Been active as LC3NAT or LA6Q (QLF DX team) from different IOTA locations. Been on Market Reef, heard as OJØLA several times. He says the main purpose with contesting is to have FUN, and if you are not – let it be. |
LA5UF, Jørgen Hoel. Jørgen – or Joe on the air. LA3Z’s most experienced operator and have been active since 1957. A great CW/SSB operator, that takes great control over any pileup. An “antenna guru” and the one who never gets tired of the challenge of contesting. Been heard as ZK1UFF from the Pacific. The strategy man before, under and after contests. |
LA8HGA, Jon Morten Lervik was born in 1969. Licenced since 1988. Electrical engineer. Main interests are DX-ing on CW and electronics. |
LA6UH, John L. Orvik. Been a ham since 1960 when I built my first TX. Preferred mode is CW. In my professional life I spent a couple of years of my youth roaming the seven seas as a radio officer. Then I changed to another element and have been working as an airline pilot and flight instructor with a major Scandinavian airline until retirement march 2007. I enjoy QRP ops and going on fishing trips in my old 23 feet wooden motor boat from 1937. |
LA9DAA, Per Olav Voje-Johansen. Born 01.september 1963. Licenced since January 1981. DX have been my main interest from day one and still is. I am holder of DXCC HONOR ROLL # 1 , having worked and confirmed all countries/enteties in the world. Over the years, I have been operating from many island groups ( IOTA EU27 EU30 EU33 EU44 EU46 EU61 EU141 ) Currently I live on the mainland however. I have also operated from Bear island (JW9DAA) Professionally, I am a M.D. and work as a family physician in the coastal town of Tvedestrand, southern Norway. My other big hobby is bicycling; roadracing only ! |
